The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. S.P. Agrawal, of Sai Nath University, Ranchi, has been honoured with the honorary rank of Colonel by the Government of India and the University has achieved another proud milestone. The honour was conferred on the recommendation of the Indian Army and National Cadet Corps (NCC).
The honour is a prestigious one and is in recognition of Prof. Dr. Agrawal’s long standing commitment to nation building, youth empowerment, discipline, leadership development, education and social responsibility. He has always been on a mission to develop responsible, confident and service-oriented citizens among the young.
Honour Presented at a Special Ceremony
Major General Ravinder Singh, Additional Director General of NCC, Bihar & Jharkhand, and Brigadier Vivek Singh Thakur presented the certificate of Honorary rank to Prof. Dr. Agrawal during the formal felicitation ceremony.
He was also awarded with Ashoka Chakra insignia and the star badge attached with the honorary rank. The ceremony was a celebration of his dedication towards uplifting the values of discipline, leadership and national service among students.
The honour is in recognition of the significance of educational providers in supporting future leaders and responsible citizens.
Association with the NCC
Sai Nath University has maintained a association with the National Cadet Corps. It is claimed to be the first university of Jharkhand to have a unit of NCC in the university, and it is a great move toward disciplining, patriotism and leadership to the students.
The university’s NCC cadets have also demonstrated commendable performance at major national events, including participation at Rajpath. Through NCC training, students receive opportunities to develop confidence, teamwork, physical fitness and a deeper sense of responsibility towards society and the nation.
Prof. Dr. Agrawal’s honorary rank further strengthens the university’s commitment to encouraging students to participate in activities connected with national service and character development.

Expressing gratitude after receiving the honour, Prof. Dr. Agrawal stated that being associated with the Indian Army and the NCC was a matter of great pride. He expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Defence, Indian Army and NCC for recognizing his contribution.
